News : OSS BroadNet intros HFC monitoring service in U.S.:CedMagazine.com

May 02, 2008
OSS BroadNet Inc., a hybrid fiber/coax (HFC) monitoring company based in Japan, is introducing its DOCSIS-based integrated monitoring service to the U.S. cable market.

The service provides cable operators with 24/7 monitoring of their HFC networks by diagnosing and pinpointing network problems using existing DOCSIS devices and integrating them with operations support system (OSS) and business support system (BSS) environments to improve workflow and create higher service assurance, a reduction in manpower and increased customer satisfaction.

According to OSS BroadNet, with the company's solution, operators can expect a 20 to 30 percent reduction in operating expenses.

Currently, the service is being trialed with San Bruno Cable, an independent operator in California. Eiji Miyazoe, the president and CEO of OSS BroadNet, told CED that the company plans to market its service to Tier 2 and Tier 3 U.S. operators before tackling Tier 1 operators.

In Japan, the service has been deployed with J:COM, Japan's largest cable operator, which proves that the service could handle the needs of a Tier 1 operator in the U.S., Miyazoe said. J:COM is also a technology investor in the company.

As VoIP and other advanced two-way services are aggressively deployed as part of multi-service bundles, cable operators require a proactive, real-time approach to service management that OSS BroadNet provides in order to scale the operators' businesses profitably, the company said.

OSS BroadNet's Open Admin/STM series software suite is a Web application that uses existing DOCSIS devices and offers an integrated monitoring solution for an operator's HFC network. The software'monitoring features analyze, correlate data and tendency, and enable operators to control the network for service quality while reducing downtime, trouble tickets and maintenance costs, the company said.

The company's Open STM IM is an ingress monitoring software that monitors the upstream port of existing cable modem termination systems (CMTSs) on a 24/7 basis. By using the existing CMTS, and with the combination of ATT type Bridger Gate Switch (BGS), operators can quickly and remotely identify problems in the upstream transmission, the company said.

OSS BroadNet will have a presence at the National Cable & Telecommunications Association's (NCTA) The Cable Show '08, as well as at the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers' (SCTE) Cable-Tec Expo 2008.

May 2, 2008
The tools needed for monitoring the cable network are about to get a boost.

OSS BroadNet this week introduced its integrated network monitoring service for U.S. cable operators. The company has been working in Japan, with the likes of J:COM and others, with a network monitoring solution for MSOs. In fact, the OSS software suite commands 30 percent of the cable market in Japan.

Now, the company has set its sights on the U.S. cable industry, opening offices in San Jose and conducting trails of its technology.

The company is promoting its Open Admin/STM software suite, a Web application that utilizes existing DOCSIS devices and offers an integrated monitoring solution of a hybrid fiber/coax network. The suite promises 24/7 monitoring and fast detection of network issues, DOCSIS devices registration and information collection, and a reduction of operational and hardware costs.

The company should be at key industry gatherings in the coming months, including SCTE's CableTec Expo in June.

News : OSS BroadNet Invades US:CABLE DIGITAL NEWS
Posted by admin on 2008/5/30 10:10:00 (0 reads)

MAY 01, 2008
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- OSS BroadNet, Inc. which enables cable operators to gain complete control over their HFC networks, leading to significantly reduced operating costs and increased customer satisfaction for VoIP and other advanced two-way services, has introduced its integrated monitoring service to the U.S. cable market. The company currently has multiple global deployments and its software suite commands 30% of the cable market in Japan.

The OSS BroadNet OPEN ADMIN/STM series software suite is a web application that utilizes existing DOCSIS devices and offers an integrated monitoring solution of an operator's HFC network. It provides the following benefits:

* Quick service fault detection and emergency measures display
* Automatic DOCSIS device registration and information collection
* Remote, rapid and automatic fault location identification
* 24/7 monitoring
* Flexibility to integrate with other systems
* Patented and proven technology
* Ensures outstanding service transmission
* Reduce downtime and trouble tickets
* Reduce operational costs and hardware costs

The Company's OPEN STM IM is an ingress monitoring software which monitors the upstream port of existing CMTS on a 24/7 basis. By utilizing the existing CMTS, and with the combination of an ATT type BGS (Bridger Gate Switch) the operator can accurately, quickly and remotely identify the fault in the upstream transmission that troubles the service.

Eiji Miyazoe, President and CEO of BroadNet, said, "Ingress is the biggest problem that many operators of two-way services are experiencing today, not only because of the noise funneling effect of the return path, but also because of inexperience in dealing with ingress and the return spectrum on a daily basis. By being able to pinpoint problems, diagnose the best way to solve those problems, and being provided a single, unified view of network quality, an operator can offer two-way services such as VoIP with high reliability and low cost."
